New Regs Wales

Regulated Separation of Business Waste – Wales Waste legislation 2024

New rules being introduced by the Welsh Government will mandate that all workplaces separate recyclable items in the same manner that the majority of households currently do. This will enhance the quantity and quality of the waste that we collect and sort.

The following materials will need to be separated for collection, and collected separately:

  • Food (for premises that produce more than 5kg of food waste a week)
  • Paper and card
  • Glass
  • Metals & Plastics
  • WEEE Waste ( Electronic Waste)

Workplace Recycling Law Wales – Why are these changes being implemented?

In addition to increasing recycling quantity and quality, the improvements are essential to Wales meeting its 2050 carbon emission reduction and waste-to-zero goals.

The goal is to extend the useful life of materials, which offers substantial financial benefits. Keeping high-quality materials that can sustain our supply chains and return to the economy more efficiently can result in savings as material costs rise. For instance, by generating employment and reducing disposal costs.
